I was using an old Xbox extender DVD and could not not recieve HBO, so I
needed to update my Xbox and then add the Rollup 1 on my pc. Since I only
purchased the Xbox for the extender service, I had no games and was not going
to purchase any. But I needed to log onto Xbox live to get the update which
meant purchasing a membership.

I was able to find an expired membership that still worked at a local
Gamestop, I explained my situation to the sales person and we went looking
thru the used games and I found an expired free 2 month trial membership.
The subscription code still worked and I was able to update the console after
creating an account. Other places you may want to check for these free 2
month memberships are: EB Games, Blockbuster and any other place that trades
used games.

Additionally, I had a problem with the extender not able to find the pc,
what I did was remove the extender DVD and go to network settings in the Xbox
console and have the console automaticcally search for the pc and then
everthing worked after placing the extender DVD back in the Xbox.

I now have full access to HBO. Hope this info helps others.
