I have the same error message but only when playing My Videos. I can watch
live TV and Recorded programs with no problem. I do not think that is a
problem with my TV tuner card.

If your videos have an AVI extension, they may need a DivX decoder. I use
"ffdshow", which can be found with Google.

You might want to try my earlier suggestion from this thread since my problem
also manifested itself only in "My Video's and there are quire a few others
who this fix has worked for. Here is an excerpt from my earlier post...
"Not sure if it's related but I had a similar problem after updating my
system
with all the Feburary security updates. I had to go into Control Panel -->
System --> Advanced Tab --> Settings Button --> Data Execution Prevention Tab
--> select the "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I
select:" radio button and select ehshell.exe which was already in the list
(since it had caused the video error). I had to do the same for explorer.exe
a while back to fix a similar crash issue when I right clicked on a file with
a .mpg extension."
