- Recorded TV won't play in MCE but will play in Media Player
- Posted by David C. Jordan on November 14th, 2005
Just setup MCE 2005 system. Things are working well EXCEPT Recorded TV won't
play in MCE but will play in Media Player 10. Sample clip "Fast & The Furious
" plays through MCE. What is going on?
Can anyone help me?

What exactly happens when you try to play it in Media Center?

GREEN screen with some artifacts on it. NO image. If I fast forward or
rewind - I can see the taped show. When I stop fast forward I can see SOME
of the FROZEN TV image. If I hit resume, time counter is going up but NO
change in FROZEN TV image.
Thanks
BTW: When I installed MCE, I received and error that MCE could not find a
compatible video card. Could that have something to do with it even if I can
watch TAPED shows thru WMP? Look slike I can't watch LIVE TV either -
thought I could at one point when I setup system yesterday.

Your video card is the problem. Check the manufacturer's web
site to see if there is newer driver available that's compatible
with MCE 2005 (needs to support DirectX 9 functions).
If not, you'll need to get a new video card. You can find a
list of "officially" compatible cards here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/m...erlisting.mspx
Media Player and Media Center display video using completely
different methods. So it's not at all surprising that the
video plays fine in WMP but not MCE.
