resizing windowed Media Center
Posted by Chip on November 28th, 2005

I have two monitors, set in dual mode. When I run XP Media Center (TV) in
FULL mode I lose the mouse for use on the other monitor. When I run the TV
in a "resizable" windowed mode I am restricted in size which is much too
small...I want to manually resize it to nearly the full screen size in order
to keep my mouse active for the other screen. XPMC setting don't address
windowed screen sizes. Is this a registry setting?

Move the mouse over the lower right corner and you can resize the window there. Left click and drag at the top of the window to move it.

Well, yes of course you can do that, but the resize size is limited - is
there a way past the limitation on how big the resize can go? I too run
into the same problem that Chip has...

Unforunately, the size of the windowed MCE state cannot exceed 1024*768.

ok, what's the sense of being stupid if I can't prove it to the whole MS
community;
isn't 1024 x 768 an aspect ratio or is it the ability of the monitor to
support a finer resolution? Would it matter if it that aspect ratio, or
resolution, was on a 15", 19", 20" or a resizable window? In short, how can
a so-called "resizable" window be restricted from being enlarged (within
acceptable aspect ratio confines) to NEARLY the entire size of the actual
monitor? It just seems strange that I can see a full screen at 20" but I
can't resize past the current windowed screen which uses less than 25% of the
desktop.

FOUND IT: ok, here's what I did. After hitting the tab key (hoping to cycle
through programs) I decided to hit the MS Windows Logo key just to see what
would happen. That gave me the task bar, dual moded (both screens) mouse,
and retained the full screen. Unorthodox, undocumented, but it worked.
