A shimmering white line (white pixels?)consisting of rectangular b
Posted by Praveen on December 1st, 2005

A few days back my MCE TV has suddenly developed this strange distraction. On
the top there are white shimmering or pixeling boxes about one inch thick in
a straight line from left to right. It started after a media center update
posted by microsoft - as my computer is set to receive them automatically. I
do not know what update was that - as when i restored it, this distraction
goes away. However my computer downloaded this again and i cannot recall what
was it.The config is P4-3.2 GHz, 1GB RAM, ATI Radeon X700, Hauppage WinTV150,
Samsung DLP.

I downloaded latest drivers from ATI for X700 that fixed this issue, but
introduced another and more serious problem. If I switch off my TV, then the
display doesn't come back!!! The computer is not in hibernate, screen savers
are disabled, power options show not to turn off anything ever!

Any help on any or both issues??? thanks

This has always been in the signal. It's "data" used by the broadcasters to
track events, etc.

Are you connected using the DVI connector on your video card? I had that
problem until I updated to the latest (5.11 Catalyst) drivers on my 57"
Hitachi RPTV.
