So I guess there is no fix for this?
Posted by Gabe on April 28th, 2006

I can not get any premium channels to show up. The screen is black with no
sound. I have tried EVERYTHING that I could find on here and nothing works.
The funny thing is I tried to record a show on basic cable tonight but the
show didn't record. What recorded you ask? HBO! How is that possible
considering I can't get the channel to show up? I have no idea. I can even
try to manually record HBO and it shows nothing but a black screen when I
play it back. I have no idea how this happened. It's starting to get really
frustrating. I'm not sure who to be mad at: the premium channels for trying
to block content that I don't wanna record anyway (I just wanna be able to
watch my premium channels!!!) or Microsoft for putting this crappy DRM out
that is screwing everything up. My media center worked fine until all of
these stupid updates starting coming out screwing everything up. If anybody
has any ideas of how I can fix this I would be very appreciative. I've tried
deleting the DRM store but I can't get the DRM folder to show up in C:\my
documents and settings\all users. Yes that is where the data path says it is
and yes I have enabled the viewing of hidden folders. I can try to name a
folder DRM in that directory and it won't let me so I know it's there but I
just can't see it. Go figure. I've also tried to download every update that
is out but that doesn't work either. Anybody have any other ideas other than
the ones that have been posted a million times that I CAN'T GET TO WORK?

It really would be easier to keep your issues to the original thread. By
creating new threads, and not providing all the information in all these new
threads you spawn, you make it near impossible/frustrating for anyone to try
to help you.

When someone has a possible solution, they'll post it for you.

I guess you are right and I apologize. But it is also
"impossible/frustrating" when you are trying to get something fixed and
someone posts "did you try the link my brother posted?" after I had already
stated that I have done so. My original thread is not the first time I have
seen it happen either. How did I not provide all the information in this new
thread? I stated the problem I was having and the methods that I tried.
That's pretty much all the information that I have. This was more of a
"venting my frustration" post than anything. I won't post anything about it
again. I guess I'll just "keep my issues" to myself and accept that it's my
problem.

thanks anyway
