- Stopping DVDs from autoplaying in MCE Vista
- Posted by Super Play on December 22nd, 2007
Another question!
How on earth do I stop MCE autoplaying a DVD when one is put in the drive?
I have set the autoplay option in the windows control panel for DVD to "take
no action" but MCE still insists on autoplaying the thing!

Hold the Shift Key when you insert the DVD.
Get TweakUI and turn off the autoplay on the DVD drive.
Only works on Windows XP, not for Vista

The autoplay options have never worked correctly in Windows XP.

Hi
This is Vista MCE and I do not want to have to press anything on the
keyboard.
Cheers
Any other ideas?

I think I have managed to resolve this
REGEDIT.EXE
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Cdrom
Autorun value, and type 0 for its value.
Reboot

This is what I did before I posted the question and changin the settingehere
do not seem to apply to Media Centre.
Even if you disable autorun for all applications it works as expected under
Vista but when Media Centre is loaded those rules do not seem to apply.
Even with the autoruns disabled when a DVD was inservered it would auto run.
The reg edit has fixed it though
Cheers.
