- Turn MOD files into MPEG files for Vista?
- Posted by steve on November 23rd, 2007
I've got a new JVC digital camcorder that saves files through Windows
Movieplayer on my Gateway P.C. They are MOD files. However, when I try to
open up the file in Windows Media Player, it only runs the video, and there
is no sound. I called JVC tech support, and they say the files were designed
to work with XP. With Vista, I would need to update or upgrade to some
program that allows the MOD files to become or open with MPEG files. Can
anyone help me transform MOD files to MPEG files, so I can e-mail them and
people can open them in Windows Media Player?

Try this discussion:

BTW, it's better if you just continue a thread rather than start a new one.
That why if someone else comes across your original thread, they will find
all the suggestions and solutions.

I have a JVC camera and I used to just rename the .MOD to .MPG and vista will
see them. But Vista now recognizes .MOD files as Mpeg's. Not sure if an
update fixed this or if I assigned the extension to MCE some how. I honestly
can not remember.
But worst case you could just rename the extension and it should work.
