- TV manual recording stops every next end of hour
- Posted by golfinho05 on April 10th, 2006
Could anybody help me with this issue, please?
Whenever I try to manually record a Tv program I have to schedule (guess)
the hour I want it to stop, otherwise it will stop record at the end of that
hour, for example if it starts recording at 22h05m or 22h 57m it will stop
invariably always at 23h00m! How can I enable the simple one-click recording
and one-click stop recording? It seems that there is some default
configuration enabled but I couldn´t find it on the settings...

Not currently possible, you will need to schedule a manual recording if you
wish to override the guide setttings.

I'm not sure it will stop at the end of that hour. It will stop at the end
of the scheduled show (based on what is on the channel at the time).
As Jeff mentions, you'll need to set up a manual recording if you want finer
control of when the recording stops.

Thanks for your answers, however this is what comes on Media Center microsoft
website about recording TV:
"Record it now:
If you’re watching live TV and want to record what you are currently
watching, press the RECORD button on your remote. It’s that easy!"
and this is what I would expect being able to do...
I don't have TV guide on analog signal in the computer,so no guide settings
apparently. Isn't there a simple way to record manually by pressing record
button once and stóp button another time and once to stop recording?
Thanks for any further help.

Thanks for your reply but are you sure this simple operation isn't possible??
I just would like to press te record button to start recording and the stop
button to finish it...as the Windows Media Center official website says:
"it's that easy"!

Are you using you have no internet access for your computer? Or is no EPG
available for where you are?
The MCE experience (TV wise) is seriously degraded (in my opinion) without
access to an EPG). If your issue is the former rather than the later, you
really should consider getting your computer hooked up to the internet.

I have an internet connection so, for example I have accesss to metadata for
music files automatically. Altough my TV signal is through cable (analog),
when I set up the TV I couldn't do any scanning that way, so I changed the
settings to "antenna" and the TV channls (altough not all of them apeared on
the scanning).
Duiring the settings the computer didn't find any EPG service (I am not sure
if this feature should come only through a digital TV signal).
So, I have I can have internet connection during TV watching (and
recording), if this makes any difference.
This seems such a basic issue that I find it difficult not to find a simple
solution. In Microsoft website they don't specify any problem related to this
simple operation. If this works like this all the recording experience looses
interest, from the "fammily sofa" point of view...
Thanks very much for your attention!

Hi Gary.
Is it really possible to invoke a manual recording, if you usually are using
the epg?
The reason for asking is that my epg-supplier don't list half om my
available channels.
Occasionally I want to record one of these non-listed channels.
I live in Sweden, close to Copenhagen in Denmark, and my EPG-provider doesnt
list danish channels.
I believe my problem is a very common problem in Europe where
neighbour-country viewing is something eveyrone is used to since televisions
childhood, and which is endorsed by all governments in Europe.
Isn't this a problem in southern and northeastern US as well?
Anyway, can I invoke a manual recording within my MCE 2005?

Absolutely
Within MCE, My TV, Recorded TV, Create a Custom Recording with "Channel and
Time"
Then make the appropriate selections.

Your right!
Thank you...
Do you have anything to say about my channel-listing issue?
I tried the error-reportform listed in MCE-FAQs for this but that could not
handle requests outside the US!

Have you tried seeing if there is anything at the Swedish Microsoft MCE
site?
http://www.microsoft.com/sverige/win...r/default.mspx
Sorry I can't read the language, but for other areas, there is usually an
EPG reporting form there...

Nope, I cannot locate any EPG reporting form on the Swedish site. In fact,
there isn't much help at all on the Swedish site and it is not possible to
email them either.
They asks us customers to use this page!
So, can Microsoft US say anything about the policies on which channels shall
be listed in a specific country? Or must I use those hacks available from
Australia (Bladerunner Pro and o2grabber) and live with an essentially faulty
product?
