Is there a way in Media Center to copy, edit and burn recorded TV programs?
If so, please advise as to how this is done.

Thanks for your help.

To edit recordings I use VideoRedo. Don't burn them though so I can't
help you there.

You can edit with DVREdit, available on www.thegreenbutton.com. If you have
the Sonic Encoders installed, you can burn a video DVD from within Media
Center. If your OEM didn't include them, you'll need to buy other software
such as Sonic's MyDVD or Nero 7. I purchased a copy of Video ReDo Plus, from
www.videoredo.com, to edit my dvr-ms files. It works well, has a good user
interface, and can automatically detect and remove commercials.

I installed Video Re-Do. What typpe of files does Media Center create when
recording live TV? Also, where are these files stored? I searched for video
files and found nothing, but I have a few recordings on the HD.

It creates a dvr-ms file, which is basically the MPeg2 created in hardware
by the tuner card, with a wrapper around it. It's easily possible to extract
the mpeg file from the dvr-ms file, using DVRMSToolbox.

Unless you set up your Media Center to write files to a separate drive,
they'll be somewhere under your Documents and Settings directory. For Video
ReDo, make sure you've downloaded the Plus version. When you go to open the
file, you'll have to select "All Files" in the file type drop-down list,
then point it to a dvr-ms file.

Great. That seems to have worked. Next question. Is there a way to set up
Media Center to record to a networked drive? If so, please advise. This would
be a huge help for me, as I have a terabyte RAID Serverto record to.

You can add the dvr-ms file type somewhere in the options screen which
means that you don't need to selected "All Files".

Unfortunately, you cannot record to a networked drive. However, you can use
something like MCESync (in the download area of my web site) to move those
files to your server drive.
