TV tuner hardware not found - Adaptec VideOH! USB 2.0
Posted by Brent on November 15th, 2005

I get the 'TV tuner hardware not found' error when I try to use my Adaptec
VideOH USB 2.0 Media Center tuner (AVC-2310?) with MCE 2005 (with all the
current roll-ups). The tuner works fine with the software it came with
(WinDVR), so I know it's not the hardware. I have seen that one Adaptec
product AVC-3610 is compatible with MCE, but my tuner is not on the list.
Does anyone know if there is a workaround to this or an updated driver that
is compatible with MCE? I've already searched Adaptec's site with no luck.

You might want to contact Adaptec and ask if they plan on writing a
MCE-compatible driver for this tuner. Otherwise, if it's not on the official
list, chances are it won't work.

That's a good suggestion. I should have mentioned that I bought the tuner
over a year ago, so my support with Adaptec has run out, and I can't email
them. Has anybody here emailed them about this particular problem?

That tv tuner card is not supported by Media Center Edition.
Just because it worked with its own tv software, that in itself is no
guarantee that it will work with MCE.

Since it does have an onboard hardware encoder it is surprising that Adaptec
didn't write a MCE driver for it. The Adaptac Website does not list MCE as
a supported operating system for the tuner as it does for XP nor does it
ovver any MCE driver for it.

Thanks everybody. I thought that since Adaptec had a similar product that
works with MCE they might have a driver that's just not been posted on their
website yet. I appreciate the comments.
