No. Microsoft are quite aware for some time that it is missing from the guide
but for some inexplicable reason find can't or won't correct the problem.

You should log the error on the on-line web page
http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windowsx...enter/epg.aspx Not that I expect it
to do any good but it may make you feel a little better:-)

I was just over in the French MCE newsgroup & someone there was complaining
about inaccuracies in their EPG but it seems that there isn't even a web page to
log the errors for the French EPG! So think yourself lucky:-)

BTW There are plenty of other errors in the EPG (at least the Sky version). See
how many _you_ can find.

Actually, I haven't found any serious issues with the Guide data for
Freeview, just the usual ITV missing data which was easy to fix.

The More4 thing was a bit annoying as I wasn't able to record the David
Blunket thing from Monday night but IU'm sure it will be repeated.

Hopefully Chris is right and I'll see More4 from tonight.

Hi Folks,

I've verified that More4 is now in the majority of the lineups, but not
every one. So far I have seen reports from several different people but
all are talking about the following lineup"

TV Signal type: Cable
Postal Code: BR3 4NT
Headend Name: NTL Digital Bromley BB London/ITV London
Headend ID: 520004

If you have information on a different lineup that carries More4 but it is
not showing in the guide please submit an error report.

Thanks!

I've got it available to be selected, but the channel isn't tuning in, so
halfway there. However, when the More4 data came down, as it was a new
channel, it wiped all of the existing settings :-(

Hi Dave,

I checked the current feed for your Headend and the only channels we don't
have data for are those that fall under into the "legal reasons" area.
Here are the ones that we cannot provide data for your headend:

Teletext
Xtraview
Teachers' TV
Teletext on 4
BBCi
Yooplay
Teletext TV Guide
Teletext Holidays
TVX
Red Hot
3c

While this effects you daily, I also understand your frustration. I don't
like telling anybody that we can't do something when the only thing
preventing it is a legal cause that I don't fully understand. I'm not a
lawyer so don't have a solid enough grasp of the issues to talk about them.

To resolve the issue try removing the guide and then re-downloading it.

Thanks!

David,

I don't think is is anything to do with guide data but a problem with the
media centre software see my post UK EPG BUG DVB-T USERS.

This has happened to me time and time again over the last year. I just keep
hoping that someone in MS is working on a solution.

I suspect that the EPG data file is becomming corrupted.

The bottom line is MCE will not take off if this is not sorted. I am going
to give to the end of the year and if not fixed by then move to SKY+

David,

More info....

Just checked mine and I am missing the following channels which were all OK
with the exception of More 4

BBC4
Five
ITV2
more4
CBeebies
ITV3
E4+1
UK TV History
ABC1
Sky Travel

I have got all channel data back, including more 4...yipee...,by manually
assiging the channels. Had to do one at a time as follows:-

When manually re-assigning channels the change only saves if you modify
and save one at a time, you then have to repeat as the change does not save
first time. You know when it has as you get the egg timer (circle) icon
indicating that the system is doing something.

I raised this and loss of data in my previous post UK EPG BUG DVB-T USERS

Regards,

Mike

Yeah, I'm well aware that they can be repaired that way, I'm sick of
having to do it. The point is that no-one should need to do that -
should they?

The guide seems to be weakly linked together by textual names that
often don't match or change from one day to another. To me this
indicates a fundamental flaw in the design and upkeep of the guide.

Chris,

Nobody cares two hoots about any of these channels listed having missing
programme data as most of them are not proper TV channels in the normal sense
anyway. We do care about missing data for mainstream channels like E4, More4, UK
Gold etc

None of which most people are bothered about, forget them, they're not
the issue here.

What about the loss of data for the mainstream channels:

BBC1, BBC2, BBC3
more4
CBBC
ITV3
E4+1
BBC News 24
BBC World Service
The Hits Radio

I bet some will appear if I use the "Add Listings to Channels" option
- but I shouldn't need to do that.

Yes, they do

For example, these names are incorrect:

"BBC ONE" - "BBC1 West Midlands"
"BBC TWO" - "BBC Two"
"More 4" - "More4"

Why do some channels names repeatedly get misaligned when the guide is
updated, necessitating doing the Add Listings thing again, and again,
and again....?

This is *so* annoying.

>While this effects you daily, I also understand your frustration. I don't
>like telling anybody that we can't do something when the only thing

Most people aren't going to care tuppence about those particular
channels you mention, they're not the problem.

I can verify that after forcing a guide update this morning that I now have
More4 on channel 165 on Sky satellite. Still no sign of More4+1 which launches
on 17th October on channel 286.

Perhaps Microsoft & BDS would find useful the following list of channels &
changes on the Sky Digital platform

I just checked mine this morning and after it had done its update the
following channels were showing no data. These channels were OK last night

BBC1
BBC2
BBC NEWS 24
CBBC
CBEEBIES

Did the manual reasign thing on BBC1 and the following appeared

BBC2
CBBC
BBC NEWS 24

Restarted media centre and all were missing so had to repeat the process,
then set up all of my sheduled recordings again. Seems OK now, but for how
long?

This is not good and worse still I don't think MS know or believe there is a
bug. They seem to focusing on the BDS Data quality and ignoring what the PC
does with this data.

Chris, there are two big problems

1. EPG Data quality which you are trying to resolve, and are progressing, we
now have More 4, thanks.

2. EPG Data stability at the MCE PC itself and the fact we keep having to
manually assign channels due to name what looks like name mismatch.

Shame we didn't have it on Monday when they started showing The
Sopranos from series 1, episode 1.

Exactly why I wanted the guide from day 1. Looks like I will have to buy the
DVD
