Unable to select Composite Video input during TV setup
Posted by Gregory on November 18th, 2005

I have just installed XP MCE 2005 on a new computer that had XP Home
preinstalled. I am unable to select Composite Video input from cable set top
box during TV setup wizard. When I setup my old computer last year (which had
XP MCE 2005 preinstalled) I had no trouble selecting Composite Video for each
of my TV tuners. Has Update Rollup 2 messed things up? If so, what can I do
to select Composite Video?

Thanks in advance.

I should have made that more clear:

There is NO composite video input option available. i.e. there is no radio
button to select it.

The only option is to scan for channels. What happened to the composite
video option?

Do you have the remote receiver setup properly? If you don't, you won't get
that option.

Thanks for the reply. After I left my post I thought I might disable the TV
tuner that was supplied with my PC. The result was that I was able to select
composite video for the Hauppauge card that I installed myself. I guess my
problem was caused by the drivers for the preinstalled tuner card. Since what
I have done is totally unsupported, I suppose I will have to replace the
tuner card that was supplied with my PC with a Hauppauge card.
