- "Unable to Validate security of your Media Center Extender" error Message
- Posted by Blair Wall on January 13th, 2006
I've had nothing but trouble with my LinkSys extender (WMCE54AG with the
latest firmware) after I installed the Extender software update for the XBox
360.
I constantly get the "Unable to Validate security of your Media Center
Extender" error when I listen to DRM music not matter what I try. The XBox
360 extender ALWAYS works, either through Media Connect or Media Center
Extender. Both the LinkSys and the XBox are plugged into the same router the
DLink DI-784.
Does anyone know what the extender software does to "validate" an extender?
Thanks,
Blair

Have you tried reflashing the firmware on your Linksys? I have seen one
other report of this behavior and it was resolved by reflashing his MCX
firmware. To do this, launch the MCX Manager on the PC (Start > All
Programs > Accessories > Media Center > Media Center Extender Manager),
select File > Update Extender, select your Linksys, and step through the
wizard.
