Video Cannot be viewed using Extender for Xbox
Posted by c2lt on October 3rd, 2005

I have a GeForce4 MX4000. (128MB;nvidia mc exten 72.14;nvidia display drv
78.01)

When I attempt to play recoreded dvds via the Extender for Xbox I get:
"
Video cannot be viewed in Media Center from a Remote Desktop connection.
"

I think I've tried everthing under the sun. Any suggestions?

There is no support for Playing DVDs with an Extender in the current release
due to potential legal restictions of trasmittg DVD content over a network.

Well, that's messed up!...Just to confirm, if I've burned a DVD to hard disk,
it will not play via an extender? Is that an official MS stance? If so,
what "videos" then are supported?!?!? Is there a file format that I can
convert to that will work? That would suck if you can't arcive your
purchased DVDs to MCE for playback later....over the extender, that is.

Others before you and I am sure those 2 months from now will ask the same
question and not like the response. I would recommend learning how to use
the search function on this board. You will find a 'solution' to your
question.

In case you are having issues with the search function, I would recommend
the following:
