Video playback freezes after about 10 minutes
Posted by dw on December 16th, 2005

Just installed MCE 2005, pretty slick.

One gotcha is that the playback for recorded video and live TV freezes after
about 10 minutes. Audio keeps rolling on, playing in the background while a
frozen frame from the video playback stays on the screen. If I hit stop and
resume on the remote, things go along fine for another 10 minutes or so.

Any ideas?

It would be helpful, if you gave us some information.

Basic system specs (CPU, RAM, drive space)

Video card, drivers

Tuner card

DVD decoder type and version.

Sure...I'm running a Gigabyte GA-K8U-939 m/b w/ 1Gig RAM, Ath 64 3000+ CPU
and a GeForce 6200 video card w/ 256mb RAM. HD is 250Gig, Sound is
integrated, TV Tuner is Avermedia 1500 MCE.

and the DVD decoder and version?

Some here have reported better performance with various video card/DVD
decoder combinations.
