Viewing Media Center DVDs on Home Players
Posted by westernfb on November 6th, 2005

I copied Media-Center-recorded TV shows to DVDs of varying formats (DVD-R,
DVD-RW, DVD+RW) and tried to view them on two home players, one of them (a
Toshiba) being newly purchased today. Neither player would accept the disks,
saying they were "incorrect," for example. If anyone has experienced this
problem and found a solution, I would most appreciate hearing from them.
Thanks.

You may have simply created a data DVD with a copy
of the DVR-MS file on it. Take a look at the DVD
contents using Windows Explorer. What do you see?

In order to be able to create Video DVDs (compatible
with home DVD players) in Media Center, you need
to have SonicEncoders.msi installed. Try searching
google for it, if you need it.

I just installed Rollup 2 and recorded a 1.5 hour show , then I went to
"other programs" and "create dvd and put video to dvd-r and it played on home
dvd prfectly. I was surprised that I recorded with fair settings and it was
great. Hope you get it going. Danny
