- Vista MC - TV Setup - IR Hardware Not Detected
- Posted by SdS on April 3rd, 2008
I can't seem to get Vista Media Center to set up TV. Can't get past IR
Hardware Not Detected, it has no options when you get this message. Just
finish and close or go back which does no good. I have the same hauppauge tv
card on two computers. My XP media center works perfectly, sets up just
fine. The XP media lets you "learn the IR" remote. Vista just says
basically, "What the hell, I can't find your IR hardware so screw you".
The kicker here is that Vista Media Center finds the TV signal and displays
it right before I click next and get the error above. I've upgraded the set
top box from directv. I've used two types of ir devices. The one built-in to
the HP vista media center computer and an external USB ir blaster by
Pinnacle. (IR blaster on the XP machine works great).
Have any of you had this problem with Vista Media Center, and if so what was
your work around, if any?

Go to the Hauppauge website and get the latest driver.

Bob
Thanks, after uninstalling the ehome ir receiver drivers, upluging the built
in ir device, rebooting and pluging in the ir blaster and manually
installing the hauppauge driver - it works! Thanks
