Vista MCE PC Wireless to wired and now NOTHING on Xbox!!!
Posted by Dad Dude on March 17th, 2008

I have tried just about everything I could possibly do including talking to
Xbox support for over 2 hours! They are useless! All they kept having me do
was turn everything on and off!

Anyway, I had my computer running to a wireless router and the xbox as an
extender and worked but was slow due to wireless connection. The only thing I
changed was to hardwire the connection between the computer and the router.
The computer will not allow me to use the extender now. If I switch it back
to wireless, it works just fine. As soon as I plug it in, nothing! The only
thing I can now think of is it is my router settings for a wired connection.
The xbox 360 still shows up on my network but is not recognized when "add
extender" is run while wired. I checked my wires to make sure they were ok
and all checked out with them. I have a perfect connection with the internet
through both PC and Xbox.

I am running Vista with microsoft and McAfee Firewalls. I have a quad core
processor and the router works perfectly for the xbox and computer. I have
set the PC to allow the xbox through the firewalls. I also checked all the
other firewall settings as discribed in all the MS help docs.

PLEASE, SOMEONE HELP ME!!!

if you switch connections, you should not have to re-add the
extender. it should just work. I'd uninstall McAfee and see if
things clear up.
