does someone know if it is possible to watch TV live streams from a media
center PC on another PC just using a media player?

No, you can watch recorded TV, but not Live, you would need to use an
Extender.

I've done it. You have to close out of the Media Center software, and
download Windows Media Encoder. However, that means you can no longer use
the Media Center computer to watch TV, but you will however beable to watch
it using any other computer using windows media player, by just pointing to
mms://192.168.1.___ (IP address of media center computer)

Now if only I could find a way to control the MCE IR blaster via the web,
I'd be set!
