Windows XP updates and poor performance in File Manager
Posted by GTCul on October 13th, 2005

Hi All,

Ever since the last windows update I have been getting poor performance out
of the file manager, it takes about 40 seconds to display the file list. I
first thought this was a problem with my PC until my home PC started acting
that way and the Windows update had just occurred.

One of my PC's is an Intel Pentium 4 with one gig of memory. The other has
less memory. I have a virus scan running and well as a fire wall. Both of
which were running before the update.

Is anyone else experiencing this or might know what the cause is?

Thanks for your help.

My system would not boot up after this last set of updates. I had to tell
the system to revert to older config at boot time to be able to keep my
system working.

This set of MS XP updates is definately trouble.

Mine installed and worked just fine. I have not noticed anything unusual.
