- XBOX360 + WMCE2005: Time shifting from XBOX360?
- Posted by EA on October 14th, 2005
I have a Windows Media Center Edition 2005 machine. I will have an
XBOX 360 soon. I plan on using the XBOX 360's media centers extension
to the fullest.
Will I be able to play, pause, and timeshift live TV from the XBOX 360
once the console and MCE2005 machine are working together?
Will I be able to record live TV onto the MCE20005 machine via a
command from the XBOX 360?
Will I be able to schedule series recordings from the XBOX 360?

Except for playing DVD's the XBox 360 will function exactly as the Media
Center does.

Yes, Yes and Yes. The Extender functionality that comes with the XBox 360 should have all the features of the original XBox and hardware Media Center Extenders.

Thanks, Doug, Jeff, and Jason. I have no experience with hardware MC
Extenders.
"Except for playing DVD's the XBox 360 will function exactly as the
Media
Center does."
That certainly clears things up.

The XBox is not expected to play DVD's in the Media Center interface, since it will already have that capability built-in.
