get that or Vista? Is there any consensus?
TIA

If you are starting from scratch you should just go with Vista unless there
is a specific application that you use that is not compatabile with Vista. I
have used XP MCE for sometime and finally swiched to Vista about a year ago
and Vista Media Center is a vast improvement over XP MCE.
As far as more DRM, Vista does adhere to the DCMA. However much problems
you might have is really a function of your cable/satellite provider. My
cable company currently does not use any DRM at there end so I can record any
channel without problem.
Additionally, Microsoft has already issued a date that they say they will no
longer support XP after which point there will be no more updates/service
packs.

That date has been extended. Not to mention, you still get W2K updates when
the others are released (2nd Tuesday of the month). Not supporting is more
like: no phone support.
I just purchased MCE2005 on eBay for $97. I wouldn't install Vista until
SP-1 comes out (late 4th quarter this year I believe).

SP 1 for Vista will probably come out at the end of this quater or the
begining of the next (as should SP3 for XP). I have had the SP1 release
candidate for awhile on one of my PCs.
