A local company has an NT server with a 'ARCHIVE_PYTHON_04106-XXX7' DAT
backup unit which is playing up - not ejecting tapes etc..
They are a distribution company in 3 locations with this server running the
main stock control database for the company with the 2 other units accessing
it via RAS. Backup ios important as it is in most companies.
They have asked my advice on what to do. Personally I think that they
should upgrade to Small Server but the cost of this may be prohibitive due
to the probable change of all hardware.
An alternative I was looking at is a NAS solution for main storage OR
backup. The unit I am currently looking at is the Adaptec Snap Server 1100.
I can see from the specification that it supports Windows NT but will how
easy a job will it be to integrate into the current network?
Any views would be appreciated.
