- Continual user lockout
- Posted by Emily Blum on October 15th, 2003
Starting a few days ago I have one user (with Winnt4
Workstation) that is getting locked out every 20 minutes
or so. I have checked all my logs on my servers but
cannot find any indication as to why this is happening.
I've also checked his event viewer.
I have noticed that the synchronization between my PDC and
BDC is occurring on a more frequent basis since then
also.
I can't find any scheduled jobs running on my servers that
are associated with this user.
I would appreciate any ideas.
Thanks.

I would bet the the user was logged on somewhere else and
then logged on at their own workstation and changed their
password. They are still logged on at the old workstation
with their old security token thereby locking out their
accont according to your lockout policys - check the PDC
for lockout messages the workstations name will show up.
Also ask the user if they've set up thier home PC to get e-
mail from your servers. I had one that did and I couldn't
figure it out for a week!
good luck
