How are your ports secured now? Can a "regular" corporate
user open any port as long as they are authenticated on
the network and have a viurs program running? That's not
secure at all. I would say you need both methods, and
more.

Currently, we have no switch protections in place.
Assumming our network engineer engineer will go along with
turning on switch port protections what is the proper
method for setting up client reservations in conjuction?
