- Enabling Sysedit functionality again
- Posted by Vic on May 19th, 2004
I am unable to run sysedit from the taskbar for Windows NT
Workstation 4 running SP6a. Upon the last crash, I'm
getting an error message telling me the rights have been
taken away by the administrator. I am the adminstrator
and can't find the place where I need to get the rights
back.
Please help!
TIA

Hello Vic,
As administrator you can get "rights" back with wonderful button
"Ownership".
Look for object :
properties - security tab - Ownership - Take ownership.

Hello John,
Thanks for responding. I went to Windows Explorer and
clicked on Properties/security tab/Ownership/Take
Ownership and it went through the motions of trying to re-
establish links.
But, I still have no admin authority. Can you or anyone
else think of whatelse I could do short of re-installing
NT?
TIA

Well, a fresh install never hurts.
And it seems that especially you like to do so ;-)
You might eventually tell us some tips and tricks.

Sometimes, you have to add an administrator to the group and take ownership
at the same time. You might have to repeat this process again to get the
desired results. Of course, you need to be logged in with an administrator
account.
