- increasing NT 2GB partition
- Posted by jojo on June 9th, 2004
Hi,
nt is currently in a 2GB partition with SBS backoffice.
I need to upgrade SBS, but there is not enough room on the partition.
Can I use Partition magic 8.0 to repartition the 2GB drive to a 4GB drive?
Will this cause problems with NT?
They are both NTFS drives.
Thanks,
jojo

Is buying a larger drive not a possibilty? You could then use something like
Ghost or Image Deploy to copy the partition info over.

I have 15 GB free on the E: drive, so there is lots of empty space, it's
just not partitioned well..

I think that's probably your best bet then. Just resize the drive and off you
go. NT shouldn't have any problems with it as long as PM finishes the job
properly.

have you used PM?
I have read hints of trouble when both drives are NTFS.
Any info on that?
Thanks,
jojo

I use Partition Magic 8 myself, both at home and work occasionally. Works
perfectly. Only the other day I resized an 8GB UltraSCSI drive with 3
partitions to give another 2GBs to the system partition. 3 operations, a
resize logical and secondary partion plus a resize of the primary took less
than minutes with zero problems.
