Share.exe
Posted by Tim on June 10th, 2004

A program that I am running is complaining that 'Share' is
not installed, and that I must do so. After rummaging
around the knowledge base, I saw that "The functionality
of the MS-DOS SHARE.EXE utility is built into the Windows
NT kernel," and that "If you run an MS-DOS-based
application and it complains that SHARE.EXE is not
installed, the application may be searching the
AUTOEXEC.BAT file for a "share" string rather than using
the proper Interrupt 2Fh interface." However, there was
a 'share' string in my autoexec.bat at the time of the
error. I have put copies of share.exe on C:, C:/dos,
C:/winnt/system, and c:/winnt/system32, yet the error
keeps occurring. Any suggetions would be helpful.
Thanks
Tim S.
