- WINS Error Messages
- Posted by AndyW on May 17th, 2004
Hi all, i have a constant error appearing on my PDC which
i cannot find reference to. Can anyone help resolve this
issue please.
EVENT ID 4102
The description for Event ID ( 4102 ) in Source ( Wins )
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the
necessary registry information or message DLL files to
display messages from a remote computer. The following
information is part of the event: The event log file is
corrupt.
This message appears in the PDC system log every 10
minutes.
I have 3 wins servers on different subnets, all set to
push & pull replicate with each other.

Hello Andy,
I have read below answer:
....
The LMHOSTS file success proves it is in fact a Wins issue. Is there a
reason you have 3 Wins servers? That is too many for 50 clients. One is
enough, 2 is ok, but 3 is overkill. I would remove Wins from the BDC/RAS
server and configure push/pull replication between the two remaining Wins
servers. Make sure to remove the BDC as a replication partner from the
other
Wins server and configure the clients (or DHCP scope) not to use the BDC as
a Wins server.
