- all of a sudden all W98 clients can't print to w3k print server

Hi all,
i'm close to the edge... all of a suddend all my windows 98 clients cannot
print to any of the network printers located on a windows 2003 server. this
just started happening today, i rebooted the server, and still nothing.
all XP and w2k workstations are printing fine !!!.
wins is running, everything seems to be normal
MSG:
Document 48, Remote Downlevel Document owned by fred was deleted on HP
LaserJet 4000 @ Workroom (event id 13)
--> nothing else in the log files, no error just this information entry
any help greatly appreciated.

Then what last changed on the server? Or perhaps in AD? Take a look at

Hi Todd,
as far as i know, absolutely nothing. i re-checked the security policies to
ensure that the required items for w98 operability were disabled. i checked
wins, you name it. even tried to add a another printer, and still w98 wont
print to them, funny thing is that from the w98 machines you can open the
printers and view the properties !.
i just don't get it.

Is SMB-signing enabled on the print server?
Is NetBIOS over TCP/IP enabled on the print server?
Has the print server lost it's domain membership?

all checked out...
found the problem from that article, i saw it yesterday but it was kinda
confusing if you read it (delete the spooler files fromthe W98 server
?????). so i checked the print server's spooler directory, and deleted 315
..spl files from the directory, and the w98 clients are now printing
again....
i don't get it...but then....
