- Backup Question
- Posted by George on September 15th, 2005
Hi,
I am currently backing up my 2003 servers to tape using Veritas. However I
want to put into place a diaster plan for my servers. I have been playing
with the idea of geting a couple of 300 GB enternal hard drives and using
Acronis True Image 8.0 Server to backup the server image. I want a backup
that I can restore the server without have to rebuild it. Has anyone used
this software? Or are there better alternatives?
Thanks

I have used Acronis TrueImage successfully for this purpose.
I wonder, however, why you would need such large disks.
The usual method is to reserve drive C: for the OS and for
server based applications, and store the data on other drives.
In this case a 20 GByte disk would suffice to create an
image of the OS.

Well the 300GB is for SBS 2003 which is setup to have most of the data on
the main drive and user folders on the other drive. I took over this server
and did not set it up.
Thanks

I have used True Image Server and I have found that it really works
fine. You may look at other products but I think there isn't better
alternative for data backup. So, I'd recommend it.
