Canon BJC-4000 or BJC-3000 not printing in domain
Posted by arno on February 7th, 2005

Hello,

how can I print as a Domain-User with a BJC 4000 or 3000 conncted to
LPT1:?

Hardware:
Win2k SP4 Workstation Win2k SP4 Domaincontroller, Canon BJC 4000 or
3000 Printer (on LPT1: of the PC), latest printer drivers or the one
frome windows (bjc 4000)

as Administrator I can print without problems, I can also print with a
user who is not in the domain (local loging on PC). However, when a
user of the domain logs on, then not even a testpage can be printed. I
get a message (translated from german): "An error occures when printing
document xy! try again/cancel." Then (after that) I get the event:

Type : Error
Source: Print
category: none
Event ID: 61
Date: 3.2.2005
time: 15:23:48
user: DOM\user
Computer: COMP
Description:
The document <document name> owned by <user name> failed to print.
Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 3003 (0xbbb).

I did not find anything suitable in event-id.net:
SP4 is installed, not using an IP, restart spooler is useless as it
_never_ works, HDD is not full, enhanced printing features are
deactivead, neiter regmon nor filemon show any access denied messages.
Only filemon shows an error because drive "J:\" is scanned, but the
drive does not exist. I could not find anything on the canon website
and nothing with google-newsgroup search.

I tried to find some registry keys where I could give admin rights with
regedt32, however, there are no keys (I am not absolutely sure about
that, but there's nothing under HKCU/Software).

On the same PC I have also a fresh installation of WinXP SP2, there,
everything works at least with the "old" BJC-4000 (driver from
Windows).

Best regards
