connecting NT4 servers to 2003 for file transfer
Posted by Randy Starkey on April 17th, 2006

Hi,

With a full 2003 Net is there any way NT4 servers can connect just for the
purpose of file transfers?

Thanks,

AFAIK the old syntax still works when executed from
an NT4 machine:

net use Q: \\SomeServer\SomeShare /user:SomeDomain\SomeAccount

OK. Thanks! I guess the reverse would work also? Doing that from a new full
2003 server to an NT4 domain?

I recently did this and simply mapped the c$ and d$ on the NT4 servers then
used
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...o/synctoy.mspx
to transfer the data to folders called d:\oldeserver\c and d:\oldserver\d
on the new one.
