- DCPROMO failure
- Posted by Cool Dude on November 15th, 2005
Hey Folks
Did a DCPROMO the other day to remove a DC and it failed. Noticed that it
had problems shutting down the netlogon service, though it seemed to manage
it in the end. So, I ran it again & it worked.
Quick question.... is there any reason why I couldn't shutdown the netlogon
service first (seems to be the longest part of the DCPROMO process, but
easily shut down if you don't leave it to DCPROMO to do it) and then
DCPROMO?
Is this bad?
Seems better than having to do a metadata cleanup...
Thanks
JB
