- Deleted Email Account please help
- Posted by Percy on April 14th, 2006
Hi All,
I have a customer that is running SBS Server 2003 Std. The manager rang me
this morning telling me that in Outlook he did not use the internal exchange
server so he went into the Email Accounts section in Outlook and removed the
Exchange account. Now all his email is gone. It is like the whole .PST file
has been obliterated. Is there anyway that they can get it back?

Removing the Exchange entry from Outlook will not delete
his mail box on the Exchange server - only you can do this,
and you must run the Exchange System Administrator.
Have a look at the mail boxes in Exchange. If his accound
has been deleted by some other mechanism, restore it from
your backup medium.

Hi Pegasus.
I have checked on the server and can see that the users mailbox is still
there. My problem is that when we resetup the user account it does not
syncronise the mail. Can i export that mail file off the exchange server?
Any suggestions are more than helpful! :-)

When you say "resetup the user account" then I assume you mean
"resetup the Outlook mail account".
Delete all existing Outlook mail accounts, then create a new mail
account and make sure that you select "Exchange" rather than POP3.
Now specify the user's name and click the "Check Name" button.
You can do this from any machine, not just the problem machine.
If you do it on another machine then you can export all Outlook
folders into a .PST file (although I don't quite see the purpose
of this).
