- Dell Poweredge 2400 running Windows 2003, Timeout errors
- Posted by Glenn Cameron on January 12th, 2005
Hello,
I have a PE2400 with a PERC 2/SI controller running Windows 2003 server. Its
runnng the latest controller firmware, drivers, Array Manager Software and I
have even replaced the raid memory and key.
I am frequently getting 'Timeout detected on' error messages from the
'afamgt' in the Event viewer.
I have noticed searching the web that many people have had simalar issues
however no resolution apart from going back to version 2.7 of the drivers
which I believe you can not do if you are running Windows 2003.
Any ideas or thoughts PLEASE!
Thanks,
Glenn

This most probably is a Dell driver problem, even if they do not yet
acknowledge it. You are not alone having this problem, as can be seen here:

(URL might wrap)
Probably, Delltalk would be a better forum for this question.
Best regards

Hi Bjorn,
Thank you for your response. A driver problem is my feeling too. I have
already logged it on the dell forums, sent message to two of the DELL
moderators and logged it with DELL support and you guest it, so far no
replies. A number of other forum items related to the same problem have no
responses either.
The standard DELL response on the forums is upgrade the drivers (done
that!). Hoping that someone on this newsgroup can confirm the same issues.
Many Thanks
Glenn

The Dell representative in the link below said that this timeout error was
harmless in Win2000. My feeling is that it can be (relatively) safely
ignored on Win2003 as well. It would be better if Dell would acknowledge
this, though.
Best regards
