Demoting domain controller
Posted by Miha Pihler on July 28th, 2004

Hi,

I had DC that was running IIS and SUS and we demoted it to stand alone
server. There were no problems. I don't know about SPS...

I guess (beside complicated restore) these are kind of problems that can be
avoided by having dedicated server whenever possible (at least for critical
systems like DCs)...

time to solve. Now I am thinking to do a demote DC that has all those
errors using dcpromo to see it will help and promote it back into a DC.
However, I have some critical applications running on that DC such as
Sharepoint Services, IIS 6, and SUS. Does anyone have any experience that
by demoting DC will effect some of these applications?
