- DFS security
- Posted by Apollo on July 1st, 2008
Hi,
I am looking to impliment DFS to share out batch files and installations
files, across a geographically diverse wan. However all the reading I have
done to date has not mentioned how I set security. So how's it done so that
one of my users doesn't accidently delete the file?
Thanks
Apollo

Apollo,
You set the security in the normal way on the target folders. DFS replicates
the file and folder security.
Two points:
- Do not set security using the DFS paths to the folders, only the actual
UNC or local path
- The Share security is not replicated. You can use the Share security to
allow Read only, but you would need to set it on each Share
