DHCP Leases
Posted by CGed on March 28th, 2007

On my network, I have some computers that obtain DHCP leases no problem.
Others take up to 10 minutes to log on and then still do not show up in the
DHCP leases. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

There is so much that can be looked at and you haven't provided much
information.

Are the troublesome machines set to get DHCP automaticall?

Are they joined to the domain?

Can you ping them from the DHCP server?

Can you ping the DHCP server from them?

Are the NICS configured properly?

Are they Windows machines?

Is there a third party firewall, Norton causing trouble?

Drop the Windows firewall on one machine and see if it will connect.

Do you have enough DHCP addresses to hand out to all machines?

Are the drops to the machines good or dead?
