- Event ID 20084
- Posted by Nile on February 15th, 2008
Hi,
Please i need help with this, searched the net and could not find any info.
we have server2003 running Routing and Remote Access.
we are starting to receive the event id 20084 Source Remote Access.
this what it states
The Remote Access Server will stop using IP Address xxxxxxx (either because
it was unable to renew the lease from the DHCP Server, the administrator
switched between static address pool and DHCP addresses, or the administrator
changed to a different network for DHCP addresses). All connected users using
IP will be unable to access network resources. Users can re-connect to the
server to restore IP connectivity.
The DHCP server is working fine and the Admin did not change anything so i
have no idea what is going on.
Could you help please?
many thanks

Hello Nile,
Check to see if there is a rogue DHCP server on the network.
From a client that is experiencing the problem, inspect the results of "ipconfig
/all" and specifically the DNS servers. If the DNS servers are different
than your authorized DHCP server is handing out, then you likely have to
track down an unauthorized DHCP server on your network.
