- Posted by Finn Olesen on May 10th, 2007
Hi.
Some days ago I begin to recive a
"Source: Application Popup
Event ID: 333
An I/O operation initiated by the registry failed unrecoverably. The
registry could not read in, or write out, or flush, one of the files
that contain the system's image of the registry. "
on all my Win2kSP1 Servers.
the error continues every 10 sec, and after some hours the server just stop
to working it is still in the air, but if I try to reboot it, I will get a
Acces Denied, ore some other errors.
I have try to upgrade to SP2 but the 333 still continues.
Some of the serves is running on HP servers and other on VMware esx.
When I have rebootet a server there is gooing approxly 2 days before it came
again, but that is not always some time earlier.
HELP..

I believe this is actually a memory fragmentation bug with the Windows
kernel. Typically this is exposed on Exchange / SQL servers when the /
3GB switch is enabled via boot.ini. You need to apply SP2 or obtain
the latest post SP1 kernel update. If you have installed SP2 already
make sure you are running the current Service pack for Exchange / SQL.
If this does not resolve issue I recommend you open a case to
Microsoft PSS Performance team to resolve this issue if the kernel
update by itself does not fix it.
