- files with no permissions
- Posted by Dylan Finch on March 20th, 2007
I just upgraded to a new server and placed my raid array into the new
machine. I have found one folder which has all of the permissions set
correctly on the folder, but files within the folder have no permissions and
cannot be changed. I have attempted to apply settings to files lower down in
the structure, but get an access denied message. How can I reset the
permissions on these few files? It's amazing to me that out of 300gb of info
only the files in this folder were affected.
Thanks,

take ownership of the dir, check to box "replace owner on subcontainers and
objects".

I've already done that with an access denied message. What other options do I
have?

I reapplied it again and it seemingly worked.

There are still some folders that say access denied despite every attempt to
reapply setting from a higher level. Does anyone know another way to do this?
Thanks,
