Group membership?
Posted by Fredry on January 11th, 2006

Hi.
I have added 1 server computer account to a global group.
How will my server get this information?

Can I without rebooting update the servers security groups informations? any
cmd line tools like gpupdate?

\Fredry.

Hi,

You will have to reboot the server. Only then will the server have Access
Token reflecting membership in new group.

For users this happen when they logon.

There is no other way. Reboot is required in this situation.

Why would this be a security issue?

If I may add -- not installing security patches IS a security issue (and you
have to do a reboot of the server to install most of the patches).
