Group policy remote location
Posted by bert on April 4th, 2007

Hello,

We have a strange problem;

We have two remote offices connected thru a vpn with the head office. At the
head office is our windows 2003 server Active Directory Domain.

At our head office we install all new computers and laptops. and then take
them to a remote location where it will work. We now installed a new laptop,
taken it to a remote office. When this laptop starts it will uninstall all
software which is installed thru group policies (they have the setting on for
uninstall the software when it falls out of the scope). Also the user
policies aren't working anymore. We never had any problems and even another
laptop is sitting next to it and works correctly. We didn't change anything
to the group policies.

When this laptop now will be attached to the network at the head office it
will install all applications again.

I hope someone can help me out.

kind regards,

robbert

Hello,

have you run a resultant set of policy test from the group policy console on
that computer and compared it to the results of another?

when you move it to the remote site, do you move it from one OU to another?

are there any logs on the computer itself saying it is unable to read any
policies?

Good Luck
