How to retain permissions while moving/copying Folders and Files
Posted by System Admin on November 10th, 2005

,Hi,

On my NT 4.0 domain I am running W2K3 member server as file and print server.
Past couple of days I have H/D problems on the same. I am planning to my
files and folders to another Windows 2000 Server.

Is there any way, I can retain same user access permission on all the
files/folder I move/copy from my W2K3 server to Windows 2000 Server ?

Has any one does this ?

Thanks,

System Administrator

Is the W2k server also a member server in the same domain?
You could use NTBackup for this....or robocopy from the resource kit.

You could use xcopy.exe with the /o switch.
