- modifying roaming profiles
- Posted by mmarosz@snet.net on April 14th, 2005
i 'searched' for "modifying roaming profiles", and i got next to nothing back?!
i would like to have access to a user's roaming profile with the windows
explorer (like any other directory), but i keep getting "access denied" errors
-i know there is a rights and/or ownership thing going on, but when ever i
try to see who is the current 'owner' of the profile directory, 'it' says
"unable to display current owner"
-so if i take ownership to edit the directories, who do i give it back to?
does anyone else ever have these kind of problems?

Propagate ownership of the profile to the 'Administrators' group. Then,
give the following NTFS Full Control to the profile folder:
Administrators (Local Admins group on the machine itself)
System (This is actually a group)
User (the actual user)
The user does not need to be an owner of the profile folder. But if you
wanted to give ownership back to them you could do so with Subinacl.exe.
