Network Printer Setup Question
Posted by Chaplain Doug on May 12th, 2005

Windows Server 2003. I have a network printer defined (and served) by my
Windows 2003 Server. When I use the printer while logged on to the server
(as the administrator) I have setup options not available to those who have
connected to this printer through the server from their workstations. I have
many selections for the tray, the type of paper, and the paper size when
printing from the server. However, when printing from workstations the
selections are very limited.

For example, when printing to the printer while logged onto the server I can
select Tray 1, Tray 2, Tray 3, Manual, and Auto Select. When on a
workstation I only have the choices of Manual and Auto Select. When printing
to the printer while logged onto the server I can select types envelope,
bond, card stock, plain, letterhead, etc. When on a workstation I only have
Plain and Letterhead as selections.

Why would the server have full functionality and the workstations be so
limited? Thanks for the help.
