We are experiencing some strange issues with our fsmo. We had recently
upgraded our fsmo from w2k/sp4 to w2k3/sp1. That portion of the upgrade went
smoothly and we did not encounter any issues. However, after the sp1 was
installed, we applied all the sercurity patches to it and thats when the
issues began to arise. Everytime we reboot the w2k3 server, it hangs at the
"Preparing network connections screen for quite some time, 15 minutes. When
it gets to the Logon screen, it takes another 20 minutes for it to fully
start up. After that, it takes another 10 minutes for the DNS server to
become functional. I ran dcdiag and netdiag and everything passed. I am
getting event id 1030 and 1058. I checked MS article 842804 which Microsoft
will not re-issue if SP1 has already been installed (hotfix 842804 can not be
re-applied if SP1 has been installed). What can I do because I am at a lost?
