problems bringing workstation onto the domain

I'm trying to bring an XP Pro box onto the domain. When I go to join the
domain, I get an error message stating "There are no endpoints available from
the endpoint mapper". The client has a static IP, DNS points to the DC,
updated to current patches, and the firewall has been disabled since i
thought that was part of the problem. The only difference that I think might
matter is I just converted the HD on this particular client from FAT32 to
NTFS and don't know if the default NTFS permissions from the conversion are
an issue. This is the only client giving me a problem. After doing some
research, and seeing this issue affects RPC traffic, I checked the reg to
match RPC strings to another client. There were no issues there. But now I'm
stumped. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.
